Summer Russian Study Programs

stpetersThe editors of Novosti would like to inform students of some of the many programs that are offered in the US and in Russia. Please feel free to ask department members about these programs. Most provide credit that can be approved for transfer as Russian credits.  

 In Russia:

American Councils of Teachers of Russian (ACTR) programs

American Councils has administered intensive language-immersion programs for U.S. undergraduates, graduate students, teachers, and scholars at universities and specialized institutions in Russia and Eurasia since 1976.

The Summer Workshop in Slavic, East European, and Central Asian Languages at Indiana University

Utilizing the resources of Indiana University’s own specialists as well as native speakers from other universities and abroad, the Summer Workshop has developed and maintained a national program of the highest quality. Allowing all participants to pay in-state tuition fees, the program has as its goal the enhancement of speaking, reading, listening and writing skills through classroom instruction and a full range of extra-curricular activities. Fellowships and funding are available.

The Tahoe-Baikal Summer Environmental Exchange

This is a 9-week long, environmental exchange program for undergraduate, graduate, and young professional participants from North America, Russia, Mongolia, and other countries throughout the world.  Participants will spend the summer at the watersheds of Lake Baikal in Russia and Mongolia, and Lake Tahoe in California and Nevada, meeting with top scientists and environmental policy-makers, developing and presenting research projects, and conducting ecological restoration work.
